SAFILM (San Antonio Film Festival) is quickly approaching their festival dates set for June 17^th – 23^rd, but before the festival kicks off we will collaborate with the Austin Film Festival for a free event on June 8^th running from 6:00 – 9:00 PM held in downtown San Antonio at Geekdom (112 E Pecan St, San Antonio, TX 78205) located on the 11^th Floor of the Westin Centre Building. The event will be free to the public and showcase San Antonio’s favorite monster – the zombie – with live zombie make-up demonstrations by one of the top special effects make-up artists in the city, Altered Vision Studios (www.alteredvisionstudios.com). Following the demonstration, there will be a screening of a handpicked zombie film, “ZMD: Zombies of Mass Destruction.”

SAFILM is a non-profit organization founded in 1994 dedicated to bringing top-level, amazing films to the city along with providing additional resources for the community here in San Antonio. We provide seven days of films from around the globe as well as free workshops held by established and working professionals in all areas of the film industry.

Everyone is invited out to this kick-off event co-sponsored by the Austin Film Festival, where guests will get the opportunity to watch first-hand as special effects make-up artists, Miguel Cantu of Altered Vision Studios, will transform someone into the walking dead on location prior to the screening. A few hours later, lights will dim and the zombie-comedy, “ZMD: Zombies of Mass Destruction”, will begin. This film is rated R and may not be appropriate for children under 17.
